GIRLS ALOUD
Girls Aloud, the most successful girl group of the noughties, have sold in excess of five million albums in the UK and are all certified platinum. The band hold the Guinness World Record for their twenty consecutive UK Top 10 singles. ‘Sound Of The Underground' was the 2002 Christmas Number One, spending four weeks at the top of the charts and selling over a half a million copies in the process.
November 2023 marked 21 years since Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine, Nicola and Sarah were voted the winners of Popstars: The Rivals and formed the all-conquering legendary pop band Girls Aloud. To celebrate this milestone, the band announced their ‘The Girls Aloud Show’ tour which became the biggest UK and Ireland arena tour of 2024. The tour included all of the band's historic pop hits including Number One songs 'Sound Of The Underground', 'The Promise' and 'I'll Stand By You', alongside cast-iron classics such as 'Love Machine', ‘Call The Shots’, Biology', 'Something New' and 'The Show' and served as a massive celebration of their beloved bandmare Sarah.
Girls Aloud were nominated for five Brits Awards and won Best Single for ‘The Promise’. They were invited to record the official single for Children In Need three times. The band toured extensively, with their “Out of Control” tour witnessing over 30 arena dates. In 2023, Kimberley and Nicola joined Years & Years at their Mighty Hoopla festival headline set in London to perform ‘Call The Shots’ and ‘The Promise’ with Olly Alexander.
Between band projects, Cheryl scored five No.1 UK solo singles, served as a judge for several seasons on X Factor and recently starred in the acclaimed West End musical 2:22 A Ghost Story. Kimberley Walsh is currently a regular presenter on Morning Live and was a finalist on Strictly Come Dancing as well the lead in several West End productions including Shrek, Elf and Big. Nadine Coyle continues to successfully release music and tour, headlining festivals across the UK. Nicola Roberts is known for her solo music career, songwriting, winning the first season of the Masked Singer UK in 2020 as Queen Bee, as well her advocacy work successfully getting tanning beds banned for under 16s in the UK.
Throughout various initiatives Girls Aloud have raised over £1million for breast cancer charities in the last year. In October 2022 Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine and Nicola held The Primrose Ball, a charity gala event for The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Cancer Research UK, as part of The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal. Hosted by the band and presented by Fearne Cotton, the evening saw performances by Olly Alexander, Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs) and Will Young, with a live auction including an original canvas depicting Sarah Harding by The Connor Brothers. More recently, a limited edition 7” vinyl release of the band’s debut single ‘Sound Of The Underground’ was released, also to raise funds for The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal. The band have also recently reissued their first two albums ‘Sound Of The Underground’ and ‘What Will The Neighbours Say?’ on vinyl, picture disc and 3CD sets.
In celebration of 20 years since the Girls’ joined forces with Children In Need, they released a brand new studio version of, ‘I’ll Stand By You (Sarah’s Version)’ . It reached No.1 in the iTunes Charts and featured Sarah on lead vocals using the original recording sessions from the Girls Aloud / Fascination vault.
To wrap up the Girls’ incredible year, they will be releasing an ITV1 special recapping the UK’s biggest arena tour of 2024 ‘The Girls Aloud Show’ with an extended version being released on ITVX.
